TEFFLA Awards New Grant to Southwest Junior High!

The Science Department at Southwest Junior High is excited to be using new student response clickers, thanks to a $1,000 grant received from TEFFLA (The Education Foundation of the Forest Lake Area) in January to assist with the purchase.

The student response clickers will mainly be used for formal assessments and quick in-class surveys. Students will also be using them for tests and quizzes which allows for quick feedback on how students perform as soon as they submit their answers. These clickers provide the opportunity to get immediate results, quickly compare assessment data, and be able to use common assessments for the five science teachers at Southwest Junior High. The students and staff are very thankful to the TEFFLA community supporters for helping them purchase this innovative system.

Growing TEFFLA at Waldoch Farm - We Grew!

The inaugural TEFFLA fall event, “Growing TEFFLA at Waldoch Farm”, was a memorable success! 75+ community members enjoyed sampling local wines and craft beers to support the education foundation and its mission.

The Forest Lake High School Jazz Band provided a special treat for the guests, serenading them with lively tunes and showcasing the student members’ musical talents. TEFFLA’s September event “grew” the endowment fund by over $4,300. We are grateful for the generous support of our donors and Waldoch Farm!!!

Board Spotlight - Sandy Chaussee

Sandy has been a TEFFLA Board member since its inception in 2008, working diligently early on to get the foundation established and an endowment fund underway. She is a 35 year employee at 3M, and her tireless volunteer hours with TEFFLA do not go unnoticed. 3M received the “Excellence in Mentoring in America Award for Corporate Leadership” in January. 3M is the first corporation to receive this award. The award reflects the dedication of the many 3M employees and retirees who give their time volunteering and mentoring young people in our community. The 3M Foundation has made annual contributions to our endowment fund to recognize Sandy’s volunteer efforts. Thank you, Sandy and 3M - You inspire all of us to do more to make our community better.
